We all know well enough, there's no point in spending all your hard earned money on a family holiday if the kids are going to be bored when you get there. Unfortunately kids don't tend to like lying on a sun-bed in silence... It's important to make sure there is plenty of things to do for the kids but that shouldn't mean sacrificing luxury or relaxation. It can be hard to find a holiday destination to satisfy all these requirements, so to save you some time we have curated a list of the best luxury holiday destinations across the world which the whole family will love.
Best for: A Home away from home
A resort that loves your kids as much as you do.
The whole of the huge Martinhal Sagres resort was designed with families in mind, so you can guarantee that your little ones will have the holiday of a lifetime. There are five different kids clubs across the resort, so whatever your kids age they will be kept very busy with a wide range of activities. The staff go out of their way to ensure that Mum and Dad enjoy their holiday too.
Martinhal Sagres has multiple accommodation options to suit your needs. We recommend the Bay Houses, the most secluded and spacious properties in the village.
Best for: the Eco Conscious Family
Trisara is set on a private bay in the stunning Phuket, Thailand. The luxurious villas have panoramic ocean views and plenty of space for the whole family to relax. As a family you can cruise around the island or have a private cooking session. Then, when you want some time to relax in the Spa and Wellness centre without the kids, there is a great clubhouse you can feel happy dropping them off at which is bursting with fun activities throughout the day - plus they can play with the other kids!
We love Trisara because they aim to be a more sustainable holiday destination, supporting the ‘Keep Phuket Clean’ campaign. This includes regular beach clean-ups; catching rainwater, using air-con energy to heat water inside the villas, and avoiding chemical treatments for its saltwater pools and mosquitoes.
Best for: An English Countryside retreat
Flights can be stressful and depending on how many kids you have - expensive! Instead of heading abroad, why not enjoy a luxury family holiday at one of England’s finest beach destinations?!
Moonfleet Manor go above and beyond to ensure all-weather fun for kids of all ages. Some of the highlights include free childcare at an Ofstead-registered creche, children’s swimming pools and an enormous indoor play zone. Does that sound like fun or what?!
Away from the kids, find time to relax at the spa or enjoy a traditional english cream tea after a walk around the beautiful countryside. They are also dog-friendly so you can bring along your 4-legged friends too!
Best for: Ski Bunnies
Skiing with the little ones may seem like a bit of a palaver with all those boots, skis and poles, but with Le Portetta, everything is made very easy. Sister hotel to the New Forest's famous Limewood Hotel, this ski-in ski-out in Courchevel 1650 (French Alps) allows you to enjoy guilt free time on the slopes. Keep the kids entertained with Scott Dun Mini Explorers club and nannies that can escort your kids to and from their ski lessons. On top of all of that, the restaurant is headed by Angela Hartnett - think delicious Italian dishes to delight the whole family (and an extensive list of cocktails at the bar for mum and dad!)
Don't ski? No problem - the hotel has a spa that offers a range of relaxing holistic treatments using Bamford products which smell amazing. The hotel looks right out onto the slopes if you have some time left after being pampered at the spa, grab a good book and snuggle up by the fire with a side of people-watching.
It's not hard to see why Le Portetta is so popular with families!
Best for: Children who need constant entertainment!
There really is something for everyone at the stylish Costa Navarino resort, with its 18-hole signature golf courses, two different kids clubs and blissful beach and spa. The resort is split into two accomodation hubs, we would recommend the Westin for families due to the large family rooms and proximity to the kids clubs.
There are plenty of different activities to keep your kids entertained, including climbing wall, aqua park and even a race track! Not every hotel has one of those!
Best for: Tropical paradise vibes
Bora Bora may be famous for honeymoons but you can also bring your kids along too without spoiling the romance! Your kids will enjoy a Polynesian adventure with their supervised kids program, creating memorable whilst also educational experiences. But there's always activities that can be done as a family to create never ending special memories. They also offer family diving, water sports or snorkelling with a marine biologist in the magical blue sea.
Mums and dads deserve some pampering on your holiday too and the 4 seasons floating spa is the perfect place to do just that while your kids make the most of the kids club!
